An Irishman has died following a traffic collision in Thailand.

It is understood the man, believed to be in his late 30s and from Longford, had been working as an English teacher in Thailand.

He was killed in a collision in the Chiang Rai province last night.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed it is aware of the incident and is providing consular assistance.
