Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams has indicated that party TDs may take home more pay when the outcome of an internal pay review is decided.
Sinn Féin TDs take the average industrial wage of around €35,000 out of the €87,000 salary.
The vast majority of the remainder is used to fund Sinn Féin constituency operations with some money also going directly to the party.
A pay review has been completed in the past few months as some TDs have complained the money is not sufficient to live on.
Earlier, Mr Adams said that the review would be discussed at today's Ard Comhairle meeting in Dublin but no decision would be taken today.
The party is putting down a Dáil motion calling on all TDs to refuse a planned €5,400 pay restoration and it has already said its own TDs will not be taking the increase.
Brexit and housing were also on the agenda for today's party meeting.
