Staff at Waterford Stanley have been told management are looking for 41 redundancies over the coming months.
The company makes cast-iron stoves and other appliances at its factory on the IDA industrial estate in Waterford.
It currently employs around 100 people in manufacturing and distribution in the southeast.
Staff were informed this afternoon that cost-cutting measures were to include 41 redundancies at present, all voluntary.
Negotiations with the main union, the Technical Electrical and Engineering union, are to begin immediately.
