Former Fine Gael director of elections Frank Flannery has ruled out taking legal action against the Public Accounts Committee.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1's This Week programme, Mr Flannery criticised the manner in which the PAC dealt with him during its investigation into the Rehab Group last year.

He had intended to ask the Standards in Public Office Commission (Sipo) to examine the PAC's conduct which, he said, was outside its remit and was damaging to his reputation but discovered Sipo did not have the authority to do so.

"My intention was that I would try and get the Dáíl processes to try and deal with problem and I still hope that that might happen. I don't intend to take legal action," he said.
