Man dies in house fire in Beaufort, Co Kerry

A 58-year-old man has died in a house fire in Co Kerry.

The alarm was raised just after 2am by a neighbour who heard a loud bang from the house at Ardraw in Beaufort near Killorglin.

The house was extensively damaged in the blaze and has been sealed off for a technical examination.

The man's body was recovered at around 3.15am and removed to Kerry General Hospital where a post mortem examination is due to be carried out.

The man had lived alone in the house and no-one else was injured in the fire.

Firefighters from Killorglin, Killarney and Tralee brought the fire under control.

Gardaí say they are not treating the blaze as suspicious.
