The independent review into Ireland's handling of the Covid-19 pandemic is broadcasting a live roundtable debate involving Irish and international experts.

The Covid-19 Evaluation said the online broadcast on its website is part of its commitment to openness and transparency.

The evaluation was set up by the Government in late 2024 and opened a public consultation in May last year.

It is headed by Professor Anne Scott and its task is to examine how the Government prepared for, planned and managed the pandemic.

The debate will include former World Health Organization director Dr Mike Ryan, as well as experts from Sweden, Scotland and the UK.

The proceedings can be viewed on the Covid-19 Evaluation website, covid19evaluation.ie, from 10am to 12.30pm.

The findings from the general public consultation were published on its website earlier this month and the top three issues from around 7,000 respondents were mental health and well being, relationships and social connections and physical health.

The report of the evaluation is due to go to the Government by the end of this year.

There will be live coverage of the Covid-19 Evaluation on the RTÉ News Channel and the RTÉ News App from 10am.
