New data released by the HSE in relation to funding to cut public waiting lists, has revealed that three companies received over €70 million during a period of over two years.

The study, which involves an analysis of spend from January 2023 to March 2025, found that one company received over €50m.

The HSE data was released last night to Oireachtas Health Committee members.

Sinn Féin Health Spokesperson David Cullinane said the scale of the spending on funds called waiting list "insourcing" to public hospitals, to cut waiting lists was staggering.

He said that insourcing companies have been paid more than €70m since 2023, with one firm alone earning nearly €55m.

Mr Cullinane said this was part of €1.1 billion spent on outsourcing (private hospitals) and insourcing (public hospitals) since 2023, to more than 950 companies, most of which went to 50 companies, and half of which went to just ten companies.
