The Minister for Health has said he is not happy that cervical cancer samples from Irish women are being sent abroad for screening.

All samples are currently going abroad after the screening service at the Coombe Women's & Infants University Hospital stopped last December after it was hit by a cyberattack.

Cervical screening has been paused there for around six months.

Stephen Donnelly said there has been a major investment in a national screening laboratory at Coombe Hospital and he wanted to see samples screened here and a build up of expertise.
