Latest figures show that influenza cases are increasing and are above the baseline level.
Three influenza-associated deaths have been reported this season - two in the last week.
All of the deaths were in people aged 65 years or older.
According to the Health Service Executive, 324 people have been hospitalised so far this season with influenza.
Most of the hospitalisations have been in those aged under five and 65 years or older.
The dominant virus circulating is Influenza A (H3N2).
The figures from the HSE's Health Protection Surveillance Centre cover the period to 8 December.
