There are 567 people waiting for admission to a hospital bed, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

The worst-affected hospitals are University Hospital Limerick, with 51 patients waiting, and Cork University Hospital and South Tipperary General Hospital, which both have 49 patients waiting.

400 of the 567 people are waiting in an emergency department. 167 are on wards elsewhere in hospitals.

The Health Service Executives TrolleyGar figures, which counts patients in emergency departments only, puts the number waiting at 426.
