A four month surgery wait that was agreed by the Government and HSE for children with scoliosis is in doubt, reports Sharon Ní Bheoláin.

Figures show that almost 200 children are still awaiting surgery.

It comes after doctors representing the three children's hospitals said that the target was too simplistic and not appropriate.

The practice of sending children for surgery abroad is also to be phased out.
