A small number of planned hospital procedures have been cancelled to help services deal with extra pressure after yesterday's storm.

The Dublin Midland Hospital Group said that services in its seven hospitals resumed as normal, with a few small exceptions.

At Naas General, elective operations and endoscopy procedures were cancelled for today only.

A small number of elective procedures were cancelled at  St James' Hosptial. Eight planned procedures were cancelled at Tallaght Hospital.

Patients affected have been notified and their appointments will be rescheduled as soon as possible, the hospital group said.

The Saolta University Healthcare Group said that some planned in-patient procedures were cancelled in University College Hospital Galway and Letterkenny University Hospital.

Out-patient clinics are operating as normal with exception of the dermatology clinic in Mayo, which will resume later this week.

In the RCSI Hospital Group, planned procedures were deferred today at Cavan, to help manage an expected influx of patients through the emergency department.

The decision was also aimed at providing bed capacity and allowing staff be redelployed to unscheduled care areas.

All hospitals in the Ireland East Hospital Group are operating as normal.

The Coombe Women & Infants University Hospital said it had not cancelled any procedures today.
