The opening RTÉ Prime Time European election debate was a big moment for the Ireland South candidates - and was a chance to reach many of the 1.8 million voters in the constituency in the final week of the campaign.
With nine candidates in studio discussing a wide range of topics, there was little time to get into detail.
Climate action was the issue that generated the most heat - with a clear division on views between those who supported carbon taxes and those who opposed them.
Nobody could be really be described as the 'winner' of the debate and, no doubt, all candidates will be relieved that they didn't feature in a 'knock-out' moment.
As it happened: European election debate - Ireland South
As the clock ticked down, and the discussion moved between corporation tax to domestic rows over broadband and back to European defence policy, things became a bit chaotic at times.
That said, viewers got the chance to see the nine candidates giving at least some overview of their policy position.
There are 23 candidates in the Ireland South constituency. Prime Time aired one-minute videos from other candidates who did not participate in the debate.
It was interesting to note that some of them managed to make their pitch and also land a punch, even though they were not in studio.
