Critics might say there's been a lot of hot air in Election 2016 so far. But one issue that seems to have gotten little attention is climate change and Ireland's obligations to reduce carbon emissions.

Agriculture is a crucial economic sector in a small island nation such as Ireland. And it's even more important when it comes to the environment.

So how do we balance our own economic needs while trying to reach international targets set out in last December's Paris Climate Conference?

The parties have proposed various policies in that regard. They include everything from reducing green tape for farmers to making agriculture carbon neutral by 2050.

But it's not all about agriculture, as other parties have policies against fracking and for solar energy, among other initiatives.
