Fianna Fáil has promised to reform mental health services in a new policy document published today.
It says annual spending on mental health of around €791 m would increase to €991 m.
This would be achieved through year-on-year increases of €40m and help increase staff numbers by around 3,000 to the 12,000 needed.
The policy promises a national Mental Health Authority as the single organisation to coordinate services.
The party's spokesperson on mental health, Colm Keaveney, said Fianna Fáil would also review and revamp the 2006 policy strategy 'A vision for Change'.
