The Dáil returns today after the Christmas break for a very short term ahead of the impending General Election.
Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, Mícheál Lehane of RTÉ's Political Staff said: "It's a strange period where, most politicians will tell you themselves, they are out canvassing as if a general election had already been called."
Should recent flooding issues have prompted the Taoiseach to call an election earlier or will an extra few euro in people's pay-packets this weekend help prove his timing is perfect?
The banking inquiry report and a few old classics might also feature in the final days of the Dáil term.
