Leaving Certificate students could face an English oral exam as part of planned reforms to the curriculum.
Plans for the revised English exam have been set out in a new consultation document released by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment.
On its website it says that "it is envisaged that a revised specification for Leaving Certificate English will be introduced in schools from September 2026".
A public consultation period on the changes will run until May.
