A man and woman, aged in their 20s, have been arrested in connection with an investigation into a fatal assault in Dublin.

The investigation was launched following the death of Qayyum Balogun, who was found on Clarendon Street, which is located close to Grafton Street, in a serious condition at around 3am on Monday morning.

He was taken to St James's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A 19-year-old woman was also assaulted and treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí said they arrested a man in his 20s today, in connection with the investigation.

A woman, also in her 20s, was arrested yesterday and has since been released without charge and a file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
