A pedestrian in his 30s has died after being hit by a bin lorry on Dame Street in Dublin city centre early this morning.
Emergency services were called following reports of the collision at around 1.45am.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Dublin City Mortuary for a post mortem examination.
No other injuries were reported.
An examination of the scene has been completed and the road has been reopened.
Gardaí are urging anyone who may have taken images or recorded footage of the incident not to share it on social media platforms.
Anyone who was in the area between 1.30am and 2am and who may information or camera footage is asked to contact gardaí.
The Health and Safety Authority said it is aware of the incident and is "making the relevant enquiries".
