A man aged in his 50s is in a serious condition following an assault in north Dublin.
The man was assaulted in Fairview Park near Annesley Bridge in Fairvew at around 6pm on Wednesday evening.
He was brought to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
A technical examination was conducted by the gardaí's divisional scenes of crime unit.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Clontarf Garda Station on 01 666 4800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
Separately, gardaí are investigating an assault in Kildare town during which a man in his 20s was seriously injured.
He is in a serious condition in Naas General Hospital.
