A 30-year-old man has appeared in court charged with public order offences in Saggart in Dublin, last night.

Jonathon McCarthy, with an address at Murphy's Hotel, Dwyer Square, Tinahely, Co Wicklow, appeared before Dublin District Court this afternoon where he was ordered to stay away from all IPAS centres.

He is charged with three offences under the Public Order act, including engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour with intent to provoke a breach of the peace on 23 October 2025.

Mr McCarthy is also charged with loitering in a public place "in circumstances, which gave rise to a reasonable apprehension for the safety of persons or the safety of property or for the maintenance of the peace" and failing to comply with a direction from the gardaí to leave the area.

The court heard that Mr McCarthy is homeless and therefore abiding by a nighttime curfew under bail conditions could be problematic.

A bail application was granted for Mr McCarthy on payment of €300, with a number of conditions attached.

Judge Paula Murphy ordered that he sign on daily in the Bridewell Garda Station and he must stay away from the Citywest and Saggart areas and from all IPAS centres.

Mr McCarthy must provide a phone number to gardaí so they can contact him "24/7".

He will appear in court again on 31 October.
