A boy has been arrested after a boy was fatally stabbed at a Tusla care facility in north Dublin.
The stabbing occurred during a row at an emergency residential unit in Donaghmede, housing four unaccompanied children seeking International Protection.
A murder investigation is under way.
The unit, at Grattan Wood apartment complex, is run by a private company on behalf of Tusla, the child and family agency.
Emergency services were called shortly after 11am after a row broke out between two of the teenagers, who are understood to be 17 years of age.
One of them was stabbed and fatally injured.
Gardaí arrested a teenager at the scene. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A female staff member, who tried to intervene and stop the fight, was treated for minor injuries and also taken to hospital.
The area has been declared a crime scene and two apartment blocks cordoned off.
State Pathologist Dr Yvonne McCarthy arrived at the scene earlier and has been conducting a preliminary examination.
The boy's body has been removed to Dublin City Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is due to be conducted tomorrow.
Specialists from the Garda Technical Bureau and Forensic Science Ireland are also carrying out examinations.
Gardaí have appealed to witnesses or anyone with information to contact them at Coolock Garda Station.
An incident room has been established and a senior investigating officer appointed.
Gardaí will seek to contact family members and relatives of the deceased who may be abroad.
They said that there is no ongoing threat, the incident is self contained, they are not looking for anyone else and are following a definite line of inquiry.
