A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in Dublin city centre last week.
An English tourist was attacked in the Temple Bar Square area in the early hours of Thursday 21 August.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 12.30am.
The injured man, aged in 40s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
A man was arrested this afternoon and is being held at a garda station in Dublin.
