Garda injured after being struck by e-bike in hit-and-run incident

A garda was taken to hospital after being struck by an e-bike in a hit-and-run incident in Dublin yesterday.

Gardaí had been responding to a report of an e-bike causing a disturbance in Porterstown Park, Dublin 15.

At around 2.30pm, a garda approached two males on an e-bike and directed them to dismount. The e-bike then accelerated and struck the garda.

The driver and passenger of the e-bike failed to remain at the scene.

The garda was taken to hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged.

Gardaí are appealing to witnesses to come forward.

Anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time is asked to make it available to gardaí.
