Dublin City Council is seeking tenders to clean the Spire over the next five years.

The notice says the contract for the upkeep of the 120 metre high structure on Dublin's O'Connell Street is €500,000.

The successful candidate will provide maintenance works and services for the Spire, including cleaning, general upkeep, and alarm and monitoring systems.

The contract also says weekly attendances should be carried out and the client should attend monthly meetings.

Construction work on the Spire began in 2002 and was completed in 2003.

The stainless steel monument was built on the site of the former Nelson's Pillar, which was destroyed by a bomb in 1966.
