Tributes have been paid across the Irish motorcycling community to the motorcyclist who died in a collision on the M50 in Dublin yesterday.
Christian Rasmussen, who was in his 50s, died in the collision near the southbound Lucan/Palmerstown exit at around 12.30pm.
Tributes were posted to Mr Rasmussen, known affectionately as 'Danish Paddy 1%' on social media following his death.
The Devil's Disciples Motorcycle Club, of which Mr Rasmussen was a member, said: "It is with great sadness we announce the death of our brother Danish Paddy 1% - RIP Brother" in a post on Facebook.
A compilation video of Mr Rasmussen was also posted on Facebook by the Devil’s Disciples, with the caption, "RIP Danish Paddy 1% - gone but never forgotten".
Speaking to RTÉ News, retired vice-president and videographer of the Devil's Disciples MC, Stephen 'BA' Sheridan said that Mr Rasmussen was a popular club member, despite only joining recently.
"He wasn't with us that long. He joined our support club for a couple of years and then decided to become a full member of the club.
"He was a very hard-working person, he was very good with his hands and always first in the queue for getting jobs done if there was ever anything that needed to be done around the clubhouse," he said.
"If someone was having a mechanical issue with their motorbike, he'd stop at nothing to fix it," he added.
Mr Sheridan said Mr Rasmussen was the third member of the club who had lost their life in a road traffic incident.
"It's very heartbreaking as bikers themselves have a very strong bond with each other," he said.
"I've heard from a few tearful members that he was the sort of the chap that would turn up at Christmas with sweets for the children ... we have a lot of very tearful members of the club right now.
"It’s going to take us a long time to recover from this ... It seems to be hitting us an awful lot lately," he added.
Sections of the M50 southbound lanes were closed for a period while emergency services attended the scene yesterday.
No other injuries were reported.
