There are some delays expected to DART services in Dublin after what Iarnród Éireann described as a "trespasser" was removed from the train line.

The trespasser has been removed from the tracks by gardaí and the line has reopened but Iarnród Éireann says there will be some knock-on delays as a result of the incident.

An individual is believed to have been on the tracks between Dalkey and Bray causing southbound services to run only as far as Dalkey.

Northbound services were forced to begin from there.

It comes on a particularly busy day for DART services following the Ireland V France rugby game at the Aviva Stadium.

In a statement earlier Iarnród Éireann said: "DARTs are currently suspended between Bray and Dalkey.

"A passenger who had boarded the Rosslare to Dublin train at Arklow was behaving in a disruptive manner, left the train at Bray and went onto the line, blocking the Rosslare train from departing.

"Security and rail staff attended initially and gardaí are now attending to remove the man from the line.

"There have been delays to post-match trains, although the large post-match crowds have now cleared.

"We apologise to customers for the disruption and thank gardaí for their assistance."
