A man in his 40s is in a critical condition following an alleged assault in Dublin last night.

Emergency services and gardaí responded to reports of an incident at the entrance to the car park of a pub on Clonsilla Road in Clonsilla at around 11pm.

The man had sustained serious injuries and was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where he is said to be in a critical condition.

A man in his 20s was arrested in connection with the investigation and is being held at a garda station in Dublin.

Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses, particularly anyone with video footage (including dash-cam) and who were in the area between Shelerin Road and Porterstown Road at the time of the incident to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
