A man has been arrested after a woman in her 60s was assaulted during an aggravated burglary in Ballyfermot in Dublin early this morning.
The woman was assaulted after a man entered a home on Ballyfermot Parade at around 2am and threatened her with a hammer.
A struggle took place and the woman managed to free herself and get out onto the street, where she sought help.
Gardaí responded to the incident and a man in his 30s was arrested at the scene. He is currently being held at a garda station in west Dublin.
A sum of money, house keys and car keys were recovered.
Investigations are ongoing.
