The family of a young girl seriously injured in a knife attack on Parnell Square in Dublin last November says that she she is "in great spirits" and may be able to leave hospital "before autumn".

In a message to supporters, the family said that "even after a nasty stomach bug, she is doing well with her feeds, and she enjoys play time and her therapies".

The five-year-old was one of three children who were injured in the stabbing outside Coláiste Mhuire on Parnell Square East on 23 November 2023.

The update on a GoFundMe page also said "she is able to communicate what she likes, doesn't like, and is in great spirits".

"She has now become more interested in playing with sand, playdough, colouring. She has also been able to work on her Maths and spelling," the message said.

A woman in her 30s, who was acting as a carer, was also injured in the attack.
