Four men arrested after a car was intercepted by armed officers on the M50 in Dublin remain in custody today, according to gardaí.

The men are still being questioned at garda stations in the Dublin Region under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.

A firearm was also seized after a white BMW car was stopped in a managed-containment operation on the motorway.

A man, who had been reported kidnapped in Belfast, was rescued by gardaí during the incident on Thursday night at the Ballymun exit.
