A "rave" in south Dublin earlier this week was shut down by gardaí after a woman fell ill from taking ketamine.

Gardaí were called to an address in Donnybrook in the early hours of Monday morning after being notified that the woman had taken ill from ingesting the drug.

When they arrived at the scene there were "dozens of people raving away," gardaí said.

The premises was in breach of all health and fire safety regulations, gardaí said

People in attendance had paid €15 each for a ticket with a "makeshift DJ booth" and a bar found inside the premises.

Quantities of ketamine, MDMA, acid and Alprazolam tablets (Xanax) were recovered from the scene.

Gardaí said "the place was quite obviously in breach of all health and fire safety regulations" and that it was cleared "straight away".

The premises was located in Donnybrook, Dublin 4

The woman who had fallen ill has since fully recovered.

Enquires between gardaí and Dublin Fire Brigade are ongoing.
