The Molly Malone statue in Dublin city is to be cleaned "as soon as possible" after being vandalised with paint.
In a statement, Dublin City Council said: "We can confirm that the Molly Malone statue has been vandalised with black paint.
"We will be removing the paint as soon as possible."
The statue is located on Suffolk Street and is a popular landmark for tourists.

Fine Gael councillor for the South East Inner City Danny Byrne said the statue was "iconic" and the vandalism comes after the Luke Kelly statue was targeted recently.
He said the city has "just got to get tough" on anti-social behaviour and that it was now at the point where there was a need to have the "city filled with CCTV".
