Teenager being questioned by gardaí after man dies in Dublin stabbing

Gardaí are continuing to question a 17-year-old boy about the murder of a man in Dublin last night.

Aaron Keating died after he was fatally stabbed during an attack on Main Street in Ongar.

The teenager was arrested on suspicion of murder after he presented himself to gardaí accompanied by his mother this morning.

Mr Keating was known to the State services and had been living in local private supported accommodation for the past number of years.

He was well-known and liked in the community.

Gardaí believe a verbal row among a number of men escalated to physical violence on the street.

Mr Keating was discovered with serious stab wounds after gardaí were called to the scene.

He was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where he was later pronounced dead.

Local people in Ongar are distressed by Aaron Keating's violent death and are holding a vigil at the place where he was attacked at 7pm this evening to remember him.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
