More than 441 tonnes of stockpiled bonfire material was collected in Dublin city in the run-up to Halloween this year.

That figure is down on 2021, when 515 tonnes was collected, while in 2020, around 550 tonnes were removed.

Dublin City Council's Halloween Response Group was led by the Waste Management Services section and included Parks, Housing, Area Offices and Dublin Fire Brigade, while it also worked closely with gardaí.

In a statement this morning, Dublin City Council said the group began collecting material as early as August and ramped up collections in the 10 days leading up to Halloween, when on-call out-of-hours crews were available across the city.

The council said it is satisfied that its efforts in collecting bonfire material and organising more than 60 events across the city on the night itself, helped to make Halloween 2022 a success.
