A commemorative plaque will be unveiled today in memory of Garda Michael Reynolds who was killed in the line of duty in 1975.
Garda Reynolds was off duty when he came upon the getaway car used in an armed robbery at a Bank of Ireland branch in Killester, Dublin, on 11 September 1975.
He pursued the suspects and caught up with them in nearby St Anne's Park in Raheny, where he was shot dead, aged 25.
Garda Reynolds was posthumously awarded a Gold Scott Medal, An Garda Síochána's highest award for bravery.
A memorial plaque to commemorate Garda Reynolds has been restored by the Garda Representatives Association and the Garda Síochána Retired Members Association.
