A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with the theft of a car in Cabra on Sunday night, which had an infant inside at the time of the incident.
He is currently being detained at Mountjoy Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The investigation got under way after a car was stolen in Dublin at the weekend, with a baby in the back seat.
The incident occurred on St Attracta Road in Cabra shortly after 7pm on Sunday.
The baby was found uninjured on the side of the road shortly afterwards.
It is understood a car with two children in it had been very briefly left unattended outside a house on the street.

A person got into the car, at which point the older child managed to get out.
The car was then driven away with the infant still strapped in their car seat.
Shortly afterwards, the baby was taken out of the car and left on the footpath on the nearby Fassaugh Road.
The baby was reunited with their parents a short time later.
