Motorcyclist dies following Dublin road incident

A motorcyclist in his 20s has died following a road incident in the early hours of this morning in Rathmines, Dublin.

Gardaí had been alerted to the man having been seriously injured at around 2.15am on St Clare's Avenue, between Grosvenor Square and Leinster Park.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body has since been removed to the City Morgue, where a post-mortem will be carried out at a later date.

The area has reopened to the public, having been closed off for a time to facilitate a forensic examination.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them at Rathmines Garda Station on 01 666 6700 or at any garda station.

They have appealed in particular for anyone who may have camera footage in the area between 11.30pm last night and 2.15am this morning to many it available.
