Two men are being treated for serious injuries after separate incidents in Dublin.

One pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was struck by a car on Drimnagh Road in Dublin 12 at around 1.30am.

The man was treated at the scene before being brought to Beaumont Hospital.

His condition is understood to be serious.

The road at the crash site is currently closed to allow for a technical examination to be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local traffic diversions remain in place.

In a separate incident, which took place after 11pm last night, a car struck a 31-year-old pedestrian in west Dublin.

The incident took place on the Blessington Road in Tallaght.

Gardaí, the fire brigade and ambulance service attended the scene. The man was taken to Tallaght Hospital, where he is being treated for serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.

Neither of the drivers were injured in the incidents.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to both incidents to contact them at Tallaght and Sundrive garda stations, or on the Garda Confidential line on 1800-666111.

They are particularly keen to talk to anyone who may have video footage.
