People queued up to attend the Ideal Home Show which has opened in the RDS in Dublin.

Organisers say it is the first major indoor exhibition to take place since restrictions were implemented due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The event was originally due to take place in April 2020 - but was postponed.

150 exhibitors are taking part in the event.

Organiser of the Permanent TSB Ideal Home Show, Sean Lemass said they normally have about 27,000 people over the four days.

He said that the capacity of the hall is about 5,500 people at any one time.

They have put a number of extra measures in place, he said, such as asking everyone for Covid certificates and that they wear a mask.

Mr Lemass said he would not expect it to go over 50% of the capacity at any one time.

He said they are seeing big interest in energy saving, retrofit for homes and alternative energy such as solar panels.
