Dublin city's libraries and some sports centres are to be opened for public toilets following criticism of the lack of such facilities during lockdown for people wanting to visit the city centre.
The initiative is from the Office of City Recovery.
The city council already announced tenders for retailers to operate kiosks with built-in toilet facilities on the city's streets and public realm areas including parks.
Now 22 public buildings, including City Hall, will be open for 'toilet use only' starting with eight sports facilities open seven days a week from Monday 26 April.
A total of 13 libraries in the city centre and suburbs will open six days a week from Tuesday 4 May.
In a statement the city council said "It is important to note that the primary service provided by these buildings remains closed in accordance with public health guidelines" .
There are a currently total of six facilities currently being operated by the city council at Wolfe Tone Square, Grafton Street, St Patrick's Park Tearooms, Herbert Park Tearooms, St. Anne's Park Tearooms and the Bull Wall, Dollymount.
A list of opening dates and times for the new facilities can be found at http://www.dublincity.ie/publictoilets
