A man in his 70s has died following a collision between a car and a lorry on Dublin's M50.

The collision happened on the southbound lanes between junctions 12 and 13 at around 2.50pm this afternoon.

The car the man was driving collided with the rear of the lorry.

His body was taken to Dublin city mortuary where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The lorry driver was not injured in the incident.

One lane of the M50 is closed to allow for a forensic examination.
