Bewley's cafe in Grafton Street has reopened following an extended closure because of the Covid-19 lockdown and a rent dispute with its landlord.
Twenty-two staff are serving customers at tables in the café's ground floor in the first phase of the reopening.
All of the rooms will reopen, but the capacity has been reduced from 400 to 200.
Earlier this year Managing Director Cól Campbell said the refusal by landlord RGRE Grafton Limited to grant a reduction of the annual rent of €1.5 million would mean the café would generate substantial and unsustainable losses.
It was announced it would close permanently with loss of all 110 jobs.
The company has now settled the dispute and agreed to the pay rent, including arrears.
In a letter to customers posted in the windows of the café, owner Paddy Campbell said: "This time the economic story cannot be the sole focus as we rebuild ourselves. And so we will pay the heavy price...to live our values, preserve our heritage, and keep this beautiful Café open in the beating heart of Dublin."
