The death has been announced of renowned sculptor Jeanne Rynhart.

She was 74.

Among her works were the Molly Malone statue which was unveiled in 1988 and now stands outside the Dublin Tourist Office on Suffolk Street.

Born in Dublin, Ms Rynhart studied fine art in National College of Art and Design, graduating in 1969 and then moved to Coventry to pursue her career.

She returned to live in Bantry in Cork with her family in 1981.

There she set up her Rynhart Fine Art Bronze business where she worked for over four decades.

Her works also include the Annie Moore statues which are located in Cobh and on Ellis Island in New York.
