Gardaí are treating as suspicious the death of a man whose body was found in a house in Dublin.

The man, who was aged in his 40s, was found dead in a house on Bluebell Avenue at 11.20am today.

Gardaí and Dublin Fire Brigade were responding to reports of a fire at the house when the body was found.

The man is believed to have sustained injuries to his head and neck, but gardaí have described his death as "unexplained" and are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the course of the investigation.

Gardaí say there are indications that the house could have been broken into and the back door left unsecured.

The scene has been preserved pending the arrival of the Garda Technical Bureau for a forensic examination.
