Gardaí have appealed for witnesses after a young man was left with life-changing injuries following a stabbing incident in Dublin.

The 18-year-old was attacked by a group of up to 20 youths in a laneway at Thorndale Walk, in Artane on Thursday evening.

The laneway runs between the Thorndale Estate in Artane and St David's Sports Grounds.

It is believed that the youths involved in the attack are from the local area.

Gardaí say they fled the scene in the direction of the Rockfield Park area between 8pm and 9pm.

It is understood the victim of the attack was stabbed a number of times and has serious but not life-threatening injuries.
