No-bathing notices have been placed on a number of Dublin beaches following overflows from water treatment plants during heavy rainfall last night.
Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council imposed restrictions at Seapoint, Sandycove, the Forty Foot, Killiney and White Rock until 6pm tomorrow.
Further testing will be carried out after that to reassess the water quality.
Dublin City Council has also placed no-bathing notices at Dollymount, Merrion and Sandymount beaches after what it said was a significant overflow from the storm storage plants at the Ringsend Wastewater treatment plant into the River Liffey.
The council said water quality testing was carried out early this morning and the action was taken based on information given to it by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Health Service Executive.
The council is continuing to monitor the water quality at each of the beaches.
No-bathing notices were already in place at Merrion and Sandymount before the latest incident.
