An elderly woman has died following a road crash in Dublin.

The woman, who was in her late 70s, was seriously injured when her car hit a pillar of a house at Windgate in Howth at around 3.20pm yesterday.

She was taken to Beaumont Hospital where she died in the early hours of this morning.

The road was closed for a technical examination, but has since reopened.
