Four people have been arrested following an alleged serious assault on a taxi driver in Dublin.
The incident took place in the early hours of this morning at Rutland Grove in Crumlin.
It is understood that the taxi driver, a 59-year-old man, was overpowered and seriously assaulted by a group of youths after driving them from the city centre at around 12.30am.
He was taken to St James’s Hospital for treatment for serious head and facial injuries. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
The man’s mobile phone, a sum of cash and a dash cam were taken during the incident.
Two males and two females, all aged in their late teens and early 20s, have been arrested in connection with the incident.
They are currently being detained at Sundrive Road, Crumlin and Rathmines garda stations.
