An investigation is under way after a young man was injured in a stabbing incident in Dublin city centre early this morning.

The 19-year-old was stabbed during what gardaí said was an altercation in the Liffey Street area at around 2.50am.

He was taken to the Mater Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The area was sealed off by gardaí for a forensic examination but has since reopened.
